The very first moments we are introduced to the character of Yamato-Takeru (who at this point of the story has not yet received the name we all best know him by) in Kojiki, we learn our tragic hero admonished his brother (in the way pictured above) for not joining the morning and evening meals with their father.
This opening chapter to his legend alone established the prince’s character as a homicidal maniac in my mind, and therefore I have portrayed him with a rather smug face. As he is also supposed to be only around 16 years old, I have attempted to make him look rather scrawny, mainly to put emphasis on his youthfulness – we have already learned the level of his brutal strength, after all, therefore there is no need to put emphasis on that any longer.
